The Collecting Society for Neighbouring Rights (German: (GVL) Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH) is a collecting society that represents the rights of secondary exploitation for performing artists, record producers, video producers and filmmakers. The GEMA is responsible for charging the according license fees for copyrighted music on behalf of the GVL. The ZPÜ has the task of collecting royalties from hardware manufacturers and importers as well as from blank tape manufacturers and importers and distributing these royalties to its members.
